Live Your Life In Peace
Nicki Sindle Counseling
Hi, I’m Nicki
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP). My approach to helping others is through understanding and compassion. Healing does not come from fear or shame, but it is able to show up through love and empathy.
I prefer to meet another person where they are, and together find the solutions to the reasons they have come to therapy. When the emotional part of our life is suffering, all areas are affected. Often we will use a whole-person approach, seeking to find ways to heal the body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
I work with a wide range of issues including Trauma, Anxiety, Addictions, Disordered Eating, Substance/Alcohol Abuse, Mood Disorders, Relationship Problems, Compulsive Behaviors, and Adjustment/Life Transition Issues.
I incorporate expressive, DBT, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, and person centered therapies. I’ve completed training in EMDR (level I and II) for trauma resolution.
Counseling Services
Anxiety
Do certain environments or activities make you uncomfortable? Have you ever experienced a panic attack? Are decisions and tasks that seem easy for many a source of great worry for you? There is a chance that you, just like millions of others, might be suffering from anxiety.
Anxiety disorders can form for a variety reasons, including drug addiction, childhood abuse and trauma, genetics, pressure, perfectionism, and people of all ages can experience the symptoms. No matter the source for your anxiety, however, know that help is available.
Addiction
I have been working in the field of addictions for 15 years. I understand both personally and professionally how devastating and debilitating an addiction can be. I have empathy for what it is like to try and get and stay sober. I also work with clients struggling with process addictions such as: sex and love addiction, co-dependency, shopaholics, food addiction, exercise addiction, and gaming addictions.
Many people think that one can only be addicted to something if there is physical withdrawal, but that is not actually the case. We can have emotional withdrawal symptoms that are just as painful as physical symptoms. If you feel that there is a behavior in your life that is out of balance, could be out of control, or you would just like to discuss with someone, therapy will help. You don’t have to do this alone!
Depression
Depression can feel like one rainy day after another, like you have lost everything, and nothing will ever work out. It can lead to isolation, weight changes, health problems, and severely affects quality of life. Currently, according to World Health Organization, more than 264 million people are suffering from depression worldwide and it is a leading cause of disability.
Depression is a result of genetics and environmental stress. People who have gone through adverse life events (job loss, chronic illness, loss of relationships, psychological trauma, pet loss, ) are more likely to be depressed. However, I believe you can feel better. In my practice I have seen many clients recover fully from feeling hopeless as they engage in the therapeutic process.
Trauma
I started my counseling trajectory working with teenagers in foster care. Then I moved into the community mental health field and ultimately into the eating disorders and addictions industry. In short time, I realized that the underlying pervasive thread with my clients was unresolved trauma. I would listen to their stories of childhood, self-medication and addiction, and I understood how much their minds and bodies suffered from not being able to process what happened to them. At that point I knew I wanted to focus on trauma and adverse childhood experiences in my therapy practice.
