Frequently Asked Questions

1. WHAT IS THE FIRST SESSION LIKE?

During your first session we will discuss why you are seeking therapy, what your goals of therapy might be, and go over the pertinent paperwork. I prefer to think about our initial session as a casual conversation about what got you to where you are today. You will not have to discuss anything that you don’t feel ready to open up. Any questions you have are welcomed. It is normal to be anxious about your first session, and I will do my best to make it a comfortable process for you.

2. WHAT DOES A THERAPY SESSION WITH YOU COST?

All sessions (i.e. individual, couples, teens, EMDR trauma therapy, etc.) are $150 per 50-minute session. EMDR reprocessing sessions are 90 minutes and $225. If I cannot accommodate you for any reason, I’m happy to provide you a referral or recommendation for someone I feel might be a great alternate option.

3. WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

I currently accept cash, credit/debit card, some HSA cards or check as acceptable forms of payment. While we are in a pandemic and doing virtual sessions, only credit/debit cards can be accepted.

4. DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

At this time, I am not in network with insurance providers or panels. However, many insurance carriers/PPO plans will reimburse out-of-network therapy costs. If your policy does provide reimbursements, I am happy to provide you with the appropriate paperwork called a “superbill”, which is a summary of services to submit for reimbursement from your insurance provider on a monthly basis.

To confirm you qualify for reimbursement for out-of-network services, please call your insurance provider and ask the following questions:

-Does my insurance plan reimburse for out-of-network, outpatient mental health services?
-Does it only cover individual sessions? Couples therapy? Telehealth/video/phone sessions?
-What amount or percentage will be reimbursed per session?
-Is there a cap on how much can be reimbursed?
-How do I submit claim forms “superbills” for reimbursement?

. DO YOU HAVE SLIDING SCALE APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE?

At this time, I do not have any sliding scale availability.

6. WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

More than 48 hours in advance, you may reschedule or cancel a session at no charge. If you do not show up at your regularly scheduled appointment or cancel after the 48- hour window, you are liable for the full session fee. Your session time is reserved for you.

7. CAN YOU DO PHONE OR VIDEO/TELEHEALTH SESSIONS?

Yes, I do video and phone sessions. I do prefer that we meet either in person or on video initially, I am happy to accommodate phone sessions after that period.

8. ARE YOU AVAILABLE AFTER HOURS?

You can email or text me (non-urgent) messages or questions on my work phone at any time. Should you contact me after 5:00 PM your call/message/email will be replied to the following business day. Please understand that I do not answer texts, emails, or calls during my sessions with clients.
*If you are in crisis please call the crisis line 615-244-7444. You can also text 741741.

9. DO YOU WORK WITH KIDS, ADOLESCENTS, COUPLES AND/OR FAMILIES?

At this time, I am only seeing adult individuals and adolescents ages 13-17-years-old.
