About Nicki
I see clients from all different walks of life including those suffering from addiction and trauma. Clients come to me for help after broken relationships who are seeking to understand why their relationships don’t seem to work out. I help them find answers and discover what they can do differently in the future. I see clients suffering from stress, unresolved grief, anxiety, and depression caused by current and past events. Additionally, I see teenagers that are having difficulty at school and home due to internal and/or external causes. I genuinely enjoy working with anyone that is struggling, suffering, and those who desire to be a healthier version of themselves. It is very rewarding to witness how helpful the therapeutic relationship can be for clients who are seeking change.
I try to be as much of a real person in the room as possible. I believe in collaborating and creating partnership in the therapeutic relationship. It’s comforting to know you are not alone in your struggles and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I also enjoy laughing whenever possible with my clients, therapy is not only hard work, but it can be uplifting as well.
If you don’t know the outcome you desire, I work with you to develop a road map and a strategy to get clear on your goals and overcome any obstacles in your way. I help you discover how you got to this point in your life. We’ll explore both the areas that work in your life, and the things you’d like to change.
I use a combination of EMDR and somatic therapies in conjunction with talk therapy, creative experiential techniques, and mindfulness to help you heal past trauma, gain freedom from negative self-talk, and build meaningful connections in your life. I tailor the therapeutic process to best work with you.
How My Own Struggles Made Me A Better Therapist
As a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), I have lived much of my life with anxiety and depression. I was in my twenties before I realized that not everyone felt this way – chronically overwhelmed and depleted. Through my own therapy, as well as making some pretty significant changes to my lifestyle, my anxiety and depression have shown me that it is possible to create a life that nourishes the way I have been wired, instead of one that constantly grates against me. I quickly and deeply identify with those who are entrenched in shame stories and self- medicating behaviors related to their anxiety, trauma, and depression. I am eager to help you learn practical skills and do therapy work that will begin to unhook you from the belief that you will always be a victim to your mood and behaviors.
